Connecting Stripe
Connect your own Stripe account so you can take deposits from guests, and what happens if you disconnect.
Guest deposits are paid into your own Stripe account. ResRes takes no cut of guest payments. Your ResRes subscription is billed separately.
Before you start
- Only owners and managers see the Payments section in Settings.
- Your plan must include payments.
- Have your business and bank details ready. Stripe asks for them during setup.
Connect
- Open Settings and find Payments.
- Choose Connect Stripe. You'll be taken to Stripe to create or sign in to an account.
- Complete Stripe's questions, then return to ResRes.
- If you leave before finishing, choose Continue in Stripe to pick up where you left off.
What the status means
- Deposit collection is switched on for online bookings – you're ready.
- You can take deposits, but Stripe has not enabled payouts yet – finish your bank details in Stripe so money can reach your bank.
- Stripe has paused this account – choose Continue in Stripe and complete what Stripe asks for.
Disconnecting
Disconnect Stripe turns deposits off straight away. Online bookings that need a deposit stop being accepted until you reconnect. Payments you've already taken stay in your Stripe account and can still be refunded. Choose Reconnect Stripe to restore payments.
If you connect a different Stripe account, deposit links sent from the old one can no longer be paid. Withdraw those requests and send new ones.
Troubleshooting
- No Payments section: you need to be an owner or manager.
- Deposits rules saved but nothing is charged: your Stripe account can't take payments yet. Rules apply as soon as it can.
- Payout questions: payouts are handled by Stripe in your Stripe dashboard.
