Standby offers and guest responses

Offer a freed table to a standby guest, track their deadline, and understand automatic standby offers.

Depends on your plan — see PricingLast verified

When a table frees up, ResRes checks active standby requests and shows which ones it could fit. You can then offer it.

Offer a table by hand

  1. Open Standby. A matching request shows a highlighted line with the time and table, and a button such as Offer 19:30.
  2. Choose the button. The table is held for the guest until the deadline shown ("guest has until 19:52").
  3. To take it back, choose Withdraw offer. The table is released and the request stays on standby.

If a request doesn't fit right now, its line explains why. Offers aren't available for bookings that would need a deposit or card guarantee.

What the guest does

The guest gets a link to accept or decline. If they accept, a normal confirmed booking is created and the request ends. If they decline or the deadline passes, the table is released.

Guests are only emailed about an offer if guest emails are set up and switched on. If not, copy the Guest link and share it yourself.

Automatic standby offers

When Automatic standby offers is on, a freed table (from a cancellation, a move or a smaller party) can be offered to the best-matching standby guest without staff action. Notes:

  • Off by default. Only owners and managers can turn it on.
  • It holds a real table temporarily.
  • It runs only while guest emails are switched on. An automatic offer is never sent if the guest wouldn't receive the email.
  • Automatic offers per freed table sets how many guests in a row can be offered the same opening if earlier guests decline or let the offer expire. Withdrawing an offer stops the chain.
  • Automatic offers are labelled, for example "Automatic offer 1 of 3".

There's never a guarantee that a freed table goes to a standby guest. It only does if a request fits the exact time and table.

Troubleshooting

  • No Offer button: no freed table fits the request's time, party size and flexibility.
  • Automatic offers never happen: check guest emails are on, and that the freed time overlaps an active request.
