What ResRes does and the setup checklist

A quick tour of the ResRes dashboard and how the Setup checklist tells you what is still needed before guests can book.

Last verified

ResRes is reservation software for restaurants. Your team uses the dashboard to take bookings, run service and look after guests, and guests book through your own booking page.

The main sections

  • Reservations – every booking for the selected day, week or month.
  • Service – the live view of today's service.
  • New booking – take a phone or in-person booking.
  • Tables – the floor and table timeline.
  • Waitlist, Guests, Reports, Setup and Settings.

Some sections only appear for certain roles or plans. If you can't see one, see Roles: staff, manager and owner.

On a phone, the four most used sections sit in the bottom bar. Everything else is under More at the top right.

The Setup checklist

Open Setup. The checklist at the top is worked out from your real settings every time you open it, so it is always current. There is nothing to tick off by hand.

It has two groups:

  1. Booking essentials – needed before guests can book:
    • Create a service
    • Set weekly opening hours
    • Add bookable tables
    • Set booking basics
    • Cover every party size with a duration rule
  2. Before you launch – recommended or optional items such as closures, pacing, reminders, inviting your team, deposits and card payments. You can take bookings without these.

Each item has a button (for example Add a service or Edit hours) that jumps to the right part of Setup. Most items also have a small Guide link that opens the matching help article in a new tab.

While essentials are missing, the Setup menu entry shows how far you have got. When everything essential is done it shows a tick.

Next step

When the essentials are complete, publish your booking page.
