Contacts and subscribers
See who is on your marketing list, why they may or may not be emailed, and import a list you can lawfully email.
Marketing → Guests lists the guests on your marketing list, who you may email and why.
Statuses
- May receive marketing today – permission is recorded and nothing blocks sending.
- Not marketable – for example unsubscribed, bounced, complained or blocked.
- No consent record – a guest you know from bookings who has never given marketing permission. They won't be emailed.
The rule is permission, not possession. Having an address doesn't make it marketable. A lawful basis has to have been recorded for it.
Find a contact
- Open Marketing and choose Guests.
- Search by email address, or use Filter by status.
- Select a contact to see their profile, visits, last visit and marketing history.
Unsubscribes and opt-outs
- A guest can unsubscribe with the link in any marketing email. Staff can also unsubscribe a contact.
- Only an unsubscribe can be reversed, and only by the guest giving permission again. Bounces, complaints and blocks stay.
Add contacts by importing
Contacts appear when a guest gives permission at booking, or when you import a list you can lawfully email.
- Use Import guests on the Guests page. See Importing guests.
- Choose Use the marketing columns in this file and say how permission was collected.
- Confirm the declaration. It's recorded against your account.
Import history under Where these contacts came from shows each declaration.
Troubleshooting
- A guest you know isn't marketable: they have no consent record. Don't add them by hand. They need to opt in themselves, or be in a lawful import.
- Numbers differ from your old system: unsubscribes and bounces imported from your file are kept as opt-outs.
