SMS settings and message types
Choose which one-way text messages guests can receive from your location, and what each one does.
ResRes can send one-way transactional text messages to guests: messages about their booking or place in a queue. Marketing texts aren't available.
Before you start
- Text messages must be set up and active for your location. Until then, settings can be saved but no texts are sent.
- Only owners and managers can change SMS settings.
- Each guest needs a valid mobile number.
Turn texts on
- Open Settings and find SMS notifications.
- Switch on SMS delivery for your location.
- Under SMS message types, switch on the messages you want.
- Choose Save SMS settings.
If a type shows Saved preference — turn on SMS notifications to activate it, the main switch is still off.
Message types
| Type | What it does |

| Same-day booking changes | Tells the guest when today's booking moves or changes size |
| Same-day cancellations | Tells the guest when you cancel today's booking |
| Deposit requests | Secure link to pay a requested deposit |
| Card guarantee requests | Secure link to add a card guarantee |
| Waitlist table offers | Secure link to accept or decline a held table |
| Standby table offers | Secure link to accept or decline a held table |
| Table-ready text alerts | Lets staff ask a waiting party to come back. No table is held |
Some types only appear if the matching feature is available for your location, for example Needs the advanced waitlist in this location's plan.
Delivery status
Booking history shows each text's status, such as queued, sent to the network, delivered or not sent, with a reason like No valid mobile number or Texts are off for this message. "Sent to the network" isn't proof of delivery.
Troubleshooting
- No texts going out: check SMS delivery is on, the message type is on and the guest has a mobile number.
- "Texting not active yet": text messaging hasn't been activated for your location. Contact Support.
