Send table-ready SMS sends one short text asking a waiting party to come back now. It's separate from a table offer:
| Send table-ready SMS | Offer table | |
|---|---|---|
| Holds a table | No | Yes, for a set time |
| Guest replies | Nothing to accept | Accept or decline by link |
| Link in the text | No | Yes, their status page |
Before you can use it
All of these must be true. If any isn't, the button stays greyed out and shows the reason.
- Your plan includes the advanced waitlist.
- Text messages are set up and active for your location, and you have text credits.
- An owner or manager has switched on Table-ready text alerts in Settings. It's off by default.
- The party is still waiting, has a mobile number, and has no pending table offer.
- A suitable table is free during service.
Send it
- On Waitlist, find the party and choose Send table-ready SMS.
- The row shows the progress of the text:
- Text queued – waiting to go out.
- Text sent to network – handed to the mobile network. This is not proof the guest received it.
- Text delivered – the network confirmed delivery.
- Text sent, delivery not confirmed, Text not sent or Text failed – the guest may not have the message. Call them instead.
- Seat the party with Seat now when they arrive. Nothing was held for them.
Sending a table-ready text does not mark the guest as called. Use Mark called (no SMS) if you also phone them.
Troubleshooting: common reasons it's unavailable
- Texting is not active for this location yet
- No text credits left
- No mobile number on this entry
- A table offer is already pending — the guest has a link
- Already texted in the last 10 min – one text per party every 10 minutes.
- Being seated by another host
- No suitable table is free now
If a text is still queued after about 10 minutes, it's no longer sent, because the table may no longer be free.
