Waitlist QR and online join
Let walk-in guests join today's waitlist from their phone, print the Waitlist QR code, and replace it if it's misused.
The Waitlist QR code lets guests join today's walk-in queue from their own phone. It is not the Booking QR code.
| Waitlist QR | Booking QR | |
|---|---|---|
| Guest gets | A place in today's queue | A booking page for future visits |
| Found on | Waitlist page (owners and managers) | Setup → Booking widget |
| Can be replaced | Yes, old code stops letting new guests join | No, stays the same |
Standby doesn't have its own QR code.
Before you start
- Your plan must include the advanced waitlist.
- Only owners and managers can change online joining or the QR code.
Turn on online joining
- Open Waitlist and find the online joining settings.
- Switch on Guests can join online. Guests can only join while the online waitlist is open.
- Optionally switch on Allow joining without QR to share a plain link, for example on social media.
Print the QR code
- Choose Download QR. The image includes "Join the waitlist", your restaurant and location name and "Scan to join the waitlist".
- Print once. The code keeps working until you replace it.
- Use Copy QR link to test the address on your own phone first.
Replace a misused code
A shared photo of the code works too. If people are joining who aren't nearby, choose the replace option. Old codes then stop letting new guests join. Guests already waiting are unaffected and keep their status links.
What guests see
After joining, guests get a private status page showing their place. They can leave the waitlist from that page. Joining never books or holds a table.
Troubleshooting
- "Unavailable" when scanning: online joining is off, the waitlist is closed, or the code was replaced. Download and print the current code.
- Need a link without the QR: turn on Allow joining without QR first.
