Troubleshooting: QR code not opening

What to check when a Booking QR or Waitlist QR code doesn't scan, opens the wrong page or says unavailable.

Last verified

First, work out which code it is. Printed codes include their purpose under the code:

  • "Book a table" – the Booking QR, for future bookings.
  • "Join the waitlist" – the Waitlist QR, for today's walk-in queue.

Standby has no QR code.

The phone won't scan it

  1. Make sure the code is at least about 3 cm wide and not cropped.
  2. Keep the white border around the code. Don't print it on a coloured background or put stickers near it.
  3. Avoid glossy laminate that reflects light, and check the print isn't smudged.
  4. Try the phone's own camera app, in good light.

Booking QR opens but shows a problem

  • Page not found or not available: check your booking page is published. See Publish your booking page.
  • Wrong location: download the code again with the right location selected at the top of the dashboard.
  • No times shown: that's a booking rule, not the QR. See No times available.

Renaming a restaurant or location doesn't break a printed Booking QR.

Waitlist QR says "unavailable"

  • Online joining is off, or the waitlist is closed right now. Guests can only join while it's open.
  • The code was replaced. Old codes stop letting new guests join. Download and print the current code from the Waitlist page.

Troubleshooting checklist

Always scan a new print with your own phone before putting it out. Still stuck? Contact Support and tell us which code it is and what the phone shows.
